This forum has been created to give agency back to the people currently in detention; those people kept out of sight and out of mind, powerless and voiceless.
The following work was written by asylum seekers detained in Christmas Island IDC with the express intent of communicating to the Australian public their unspoken side of the story.
Kokulan is one of the Sri Lankans who is waiting for his court case over the riots. He wrote this poem after spending 16 days in Red block -an isolation maximum security block and was moved to Phosphate Hill IDC.
